QUOTE
"We played well tonight. I'm proud of the way we rebounded from the poor performance against Temple on Sunday. Tonight, we came to play hard, and we did just that. The first two sets were a little close, but we did an excellent job of managing that and playing a good third set. Tea Juric was on fire. She had a great rhythm, and we couldn't give her the ball enough. This is a good week for us being home, and we'll be ready to play hard on Friday."
--Tulane head coach Jim Barnes
HOW IT WAS WON
Houston opened up the match on a four-point run, but the early deficit couldn't deter the Green Wave as the ladies of Tulane volleyball battled back to even the score up at six, pushing back and forth with Houston until taking a 12-11 lead on a Houston error. Tulane would hold the lead for the rest of the set, emerging victorious on a score of 25-22. In set two, the Cougars would once again notch the first point, but Tulane quickly got back on top thanks to strong offensive performances from Tea Juric, Justine Bowers and Sarah Ray, who each recorded three kills in the set. Tulane would take a 2-0 match lead into the set break following a close 25-23 victory.
Up 2-0 on the Cougars, the Green Wave opened up the third set in dominating fashion, widening the gap to a 7-1 lead to start things off. A seven-point run late in the game in which four different Tulane players recorded kills would seal the deal for the Green Wave, who earned their second conference sweep of the year in a convincing 25-15 set-three victory.
On the night, senior outside hitter Tea Juric led the Green Wave offense, hitting .444 with 13 kills and recording her 13th double-double of the year. Junior setter Justine Bowers was also an offensive asset, recording 29 assists as well as four kills in seven attempts.
