NEW ORLEANS- The Tulane baseball team will look to end a four-game skid this weekend in Orlando, Fla., as the Green Wave takes on the UCF Golden Knights in a three-game Conference USA series, beginning Friday night at 5:30PM Central Time.
The Green Wave, who have dropped their last four games, including three C-USA contests to Rice, is hoping to see a swing in momentum in their favor in the weekend series. Sam Honeck, senior first baseman, continues to light up the field, batting an impressive .386 and leading C-USA in numerous categories, including home runs (11), slugging percentage (.789) and RBI (48). The club as a whole is batting .291 on the strength of 59 doubles, 11 triples and 33 home runs. Junior shortstop Josh Prince claims four of the team's triples, putting him in a first-place tie in C-USA. Prince also leads the club in stolen bases with 25, ranking him second among C-USA base runners.
Tulane will also be shifting their weekend rotation against the Golden Knights, with senior Jonathan Garrett getting the nod on Friday night. Garrett, who has started three games for the Wave earlier this season, has posted a 4.18 ERA in 23.2 innings of work with 14 strikeouts. Following Garrett will be Josh Zeid, who is slated to start on Saturday. Zeid, who has started all of Tulane's previous Sunday games, will face off against Golden Knights' righty Jaager Good. Conrad Flynn will take the ball on Sunday with UCF's starter to be determined.
The Wave staff has put up a 4.22 collective ERA, striking out 196 batters in 281.2 innings of work and will look to suppress the bats of Shane Brown, who leads the Golden Knights with a .359 batting average, with Colin Arnold on his heels with a .353 average. The Golden Knights are coming off a 16-3 loss to the Gators of Florida on Wednesday night in Gainesville and will look to Caleb Graham, who will throw for UCF on Friday night against Garrett.
First pitch is slated 5:30PM CT at Jay Bergman Field and the series will be broadcasted on WRBH 88.3FM.
