Head Coach Bob Toledo
Opening Statement:
I think it was a very physical game, a hard fought game. Give credit to Rutgers, they did not give in easily. We both battled well. If we take away that first series with them - we had a linebacker out of position and (Mohamed) Sanu made a great run. We missed tackles, they made passes and we couldn't run the ball very well against them. They were pretty stout. We had a couple trick plays that worked and that helped us to win the football game.
On the last two defensive series:
We were proud of (the defense). We had to do it. Steve Stanard, our defensive coordinator, did a great job and Doug Colman got the linebackers going. The kids are really doing a good job. They are starting to believe that they can play with anyone. That is what we are trying to preach. This program is at a point where someone goes down, someone else has to step in and play. We can play with anyone. We have to believe it and we have to expect to win.
On using this game as momentum:
I think it helps to motivate us continually because when you win, it gives us a chance to get to our goal of going to a bowl game. We know that we are now 2-2 and we have to get healthy. We have some guys banged up. We have to play better on offense, but defensively I think we're doing a great job. I thought our kicking game was really good today. I think our freshman (Jonathan Ginsburgh) punted the heck out of the ball and made a great play on that (kick) down in the far end zone.
On Ryan Griffin's effort:
He is hurting bad. We obviously put in Joe Kemp and D.J. Banks in the wildcat position to just give us a chance to move the ball, particularly if Ryan got hurt. He battled the whole game and he is hurt. I thought he did a great job hanging in there in an adverse situation, when guys are coming after him. (Rutgers) has a really good defense and they attack you, so I did Ryan did a very nice job.

#11 Quarterback Ryan Griffin
On playing with a hurt shoulder:
I was just trying to focus on the game and not the shoulder. It hurt a lot more when I wasn't in there than when I was in the game. The defense was playing really well so I got to stay in there a lot, which was great. This was a great team victory, all around. I barely got hit. I made a lot of quick passes and the offensive line held up really well.
On the key to today's victory:
I think the key was staying with it. We knew (the game) was going to be a battle. We knew we had to stay with it the whole time. I think a big key was that we didn't have any turnovers, which is really big. It was a defensive battle and we won it.
#8 Safety Alex Wacha
On today's defensive effort:
The defense played well the whole game. We came out a little slow. We had a missed assignment on the second play of the game where (Sanu) went 91 yards. After that we buckled down, settled down and played our gaps. We kept everyone in front of us and just played defense. I think we won this game on special teams. Special teams gave the offense good field position the entire game. We didn't turn the ball over on offense. On the last turnover (by Rutgers) to end the game - that ball was in the air so long and I just came down with it. It couldn't have been a more perfect moment for my first pick.
