Mar 2, 2015 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane baseball picked up their first national ranking since the 2011 season on Monday, as D1 Baseball announced the Green Wave as the No. 25 team in the country while the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association(NCBWA) ranked Tulane No. 30 in their poll.
Tulane is 10-2 on the season, coming off a week in which they went 4-1 while taking a weekend series from Creighton, two games out of three, after shutting out New Orleans on back-to-back nights.
The Green Wave are ranked for the first time since coming in at No. 27 in the Collegiate Baseball poll on March 28, 2011. The inclusion on the D1 Baseball list marks the first time Tulane has been ranked by the organization. D1 Baseball sent out its first ever poll prior to the beginning of the 2015 campaign.
In the NCBWA poll, the Green Wave was last ranked on April 16, 2007, when the team was No. 24.
Tulane will square off against Nicholls State in Thibodaux on Tuesday, March 3, at 6pm CT. Following that midweek contest, the Green Wave will return home to the friendly confines of Greer Field at Turchin Stadium where they will host a three-game series against Gonzaga, beginning on Friday, March 6, at 6:30pm CT.
Tickets to any Tulane baseball game, or any other Green Wave sporting event, can be purchased by calling 504-861-WAVE (9283). Tickets can also be purchased by visiting the James W. Wilson, Jr. Center's first floor ticket office.
