Sep 14, 2021 | Women's Golf
DENTON, Texas – The Tulane University women's golf team closed out its first tournament of the season on Tuesday at the 2021 Sam Golden Invitational. The Green Wave finished in 15th-place after three rounds of play.
Tulane posted a final round of 294 and closed with a total score of 888.
"We played another solid round today without having anyone really go low" said head women's golf coach Stew Burke. 'I'm confident that what we've worked on am with the group is starting to show and a great performance is close. We'll stick to our process and continue to improve our play throughout the season. I'm looking forward to our next event at K-State as it'll challenge our ladies against some top P5 schools on an excellent course I know well. The team will have a big advantage in our practice round over others with less local knowledge and our results will come down to our execution throughout the event."
Redshirt junior Hannah Rose Bruxvoort led the way for the Green Wave, as she carded a third round of even par 72. Bruxvoortt also carded an opening round of even par 72 and a second-round score of 75. Bruxvoortt finished tied for 42nd, posting the best finish of the team.
Sandra Vazquez also carded a 72 in the third round of the tournament, finishing tied for 78th.
Hanna Liu carded a 74 and junior Carlota Palacios carded a 76, both finishing tied for 60th in the tournament. Daozeng Liu wasn't far behind, also carding a 76 and finishing tied for 65th.
On Sept. 20th the Green Wave head to the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, hosted by Kansas State, at the Colbert Hills Golf Club.
