Tulane Golf Adds Transfer Sophia Yi-Ju Chen

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's golf announced the addition of transfer Sophia Yi-Ju Chen to the roster ahead of the 2024-25 season. Chen will join the Green Wave with three years of eligibility remaining.

Originally from Taipei, Chen joins the Wave after spending her first collegiate season at Fresno State. During her one season with the Bulldogs, she competed in all 10 tournaments finishing with a scoring average of 73.9. Her best finish came at the Pat Lessar Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, Washington, where she posted a season-low score of 1-under 215 to land third overall.

Prior to her lone year at Fresno State, Chen recorded first place finishes in the 2021 National Fall Amateur Championship, 2022 Sunflower Junior golf invitational, 2022 National Winter Amateur Championship, and 2023 National Spring Amateur Championship. She also finished as the best amateur in the 2022 TLPGA Jing-Mao Ladies Open and the 2022 TLPGA Da Da Digital Ladies Open.

Chen also helped lead Team Taiwan to a first-place finish in the 30th Taiwan Amateur Golf Championship in 2023. She led the way by finishing second individually in the event.
