NEW ORLEANS - Tulane men's basketball hits the hardwood at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse for a Monday night matchup against Southeastern Louisiana. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on ESPN3.
Storylines:
• Tulane opened the 2016-17 regular season at the Smoothie King Center (formerly New Orleans Arena) with a 95-75 loss to No. 6/6 North Carolina. It was the 16th time since the 1999-2000 season that the Green Wave played a game in the downtown facility.
• In the North Carolina game, redshirt junior guard Cameron Reynolds poured in 21 points, topping his previous high of 17 vs. Southern-New Orleans on Nov. 22, 2014. Senior center Ryan Smith matched his career high with eight rebounds. He also grabbed eight boards at UCF on Jan. 14, 2015.
• The Green Wave have won five of their last six season-opening games played at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The one loss was a 71-49 setback to Wake Forest to open the 2014-15 season.
• Tulane picked up a 80-58 victory over Loyola New Orleans in its exhibition game at Fogelman in Devlin on Nov. 3.Â
• Up next, the Green Wave participates in three games in the 2016 Tire Pros Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Tulane opens against Oklahoma on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Opponent:
Southeastern Louisiana tied the the 10th-biggest margin of victory in school history with an 85-39 season-opening win over Millsaps on Nov. 11. The Lions won their eighth straight home game dating back to last season, while snapping a five-game losing streak in season openers. Senior guard/forward Jordan Capps and sophomore forward Moses Greenwood recorded double-doubles in the win. Capps had 26 points on 11-of-12 shooting and 15 rebounds. Greenwood was 7-of-10 from the field and 8-of-10 from the line in scoring a career-high 22 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Series:
Monday's matchup marks the 11th meeting between Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana. The Green Wave hold an 8-2 all-time series advantage in an in-state rivalry that dates back to the 1949-50 season. Â
Tulane has won three of the last four games against Southeastern Louisiana, all played in New Orleans. The Green Wave captured the last meeting 71-61 on Nov. 28, 2014.
