TORRANCE, Calif. – Tulane added two throwing records on Saturday to bring its weekend total to three, as both Daliadiz Ortiz and Taylor Potts improved on their previous personal-best marks to once again land atop the Tulane all-time list at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational. The pair of seniors have collectively broken school records on five separate occasions this season and led the Green Wave to another solid outing in day two of competition in California.
QUOTE
"Today's results were more of a mixed bag than yesterday when we felt like almost every mark was significant, but I'm really proud of the work, effort and results of our throwers this afternoon. In two days, we've had three new school records, and I can't say enough about the work that our graduate assistant coach Jeff Milliron is doing with these upperclassmen. I'm very proud of our throwers and the way they are competing right now."

HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY TWO OF THE MT. SAC RELAYS/LONG BEACH INVITATIONAL
Tulane competed over a dozen athletes on the team's second day in California, as the throwers led the way for the Green Wave in the Golden State at both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational. In Torrance, senior Taylor Potts broke a shot put record for the second time this year, adding 30cm to her previous career best on a mark of 15.81m (51-10.50) for second place at the meet.
Across town at the Long Beach Invitational, redshirt senior Daliadiz Ortiz went for a three-peat in the javelin, posting a school record-breaking mark for the third time this year on her throw of 52.05m (170-09). With her new career-best mark, Ortiz finished third in the event, landing atop the podium for the fourth time in as many meets.
Back at Mt. SAC, sophomore Jessica Duckett continued her successes on the track, coming away with her third bronze-medal finish of the season in the 400m hurdles on a sub-one minute time of 59.20, her second-fastest of the year. Her freshman teammate Brandi Hughes would also post a top-ten finish on the track, coming in sixth in the 100m hurdles.
The Green Wave also continued to post promising marks in the pole vault, as senior Mary Carson Pitts jumped 3.95m (12-9.50) for a third-place finish on her second-highest mark this season.
Tulane closed out the evening with its first 4x400m relay of the year on a fourth-place effort from Maya Harewood, Duckett, Hughes and Jessica Adamson.
