2017 NCAA MEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT BRACKET
NEW ORLEANS – For the second straight year, the No. 29 Tulane men's tennis team will be competing in the NCAA Tournament after being selected as part of the 64-team field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Green Wave (18-5) will head to the Austin Regional, where they'll do battle with first round opponent Washington (12-11), on Friday, May 12, at 10 a.m. CT. If successful, they'll face the winner between Presbyterian (18-10) and No. 10 overall seed/host Texas (19-8) on that Saturday at 1 p.m., for the right to book a ticket to the round of 16 and the NCAA Championship site in Athens, Georgia.
"When our name popped up, everyone got excited and cheered," Tulane head coach Mark Booras explained. "We know Washington is a very solid team so we are excited about that matchup. Going right down the road to Austin, Texas. They've had a fantastic year. Hopefully we can get some people to travel over and watch us play."
The Olive and Blue will be making their 11th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where they are 7-10 overall. The Wave's best showing came in 2003 when they reached the round of 16.
This past spring Tulane achieved two major post-Katrina milestones: claiming their highest national team ranking (No. 20) and most dual wins (18) in a season. The Wave also went undefeated at home with an impressive 11-0 record, and secured four wins against top-40 ranked squads in No. 34 Memphis, No. 36 SMU, No. 37 Rice and No. 38 North Carolina State.
