Jun 8, 2017 | Men's Basketball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference announced the men's basketball schedule matrix for the 2017-18 season Thursday afternoon.
With the addition of Wichita State as the conference's 12th basketball member, Tulane  will now play seven of its 11 opponents twice, and the other four opponents once each – two at home and two away. Under the previous schedule format, teams played an 18-game schedule with home-and-home contests against eight of 10 teams while playing two opponents once apiece.
Tulane will face East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple, Tulsa and USF twice, respectively, while hosting UConn and Cincinnati and traveling to UCF and Wichita State.
The 2018 American Conference Men's Basketball Championship will be held at the Amway Center in Orlando. The tournament will take place March 8-11. ESPN's family of networks will broadcast the first two days of action, before CBS carries both semifinals and the championship game.
The Green Wave returns three starters and its top two scorers from last season, including 2017 American Conference Most Improved Player of the Year Cameron Reynolds who averaged 17.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Rising junior Melvin Frazier averaged 11.5 points and led the league in steals per game, while rising sophomore Ray Ona Embo was a two-time conference freshman of the week choice during his debut campaign.
The complete 2017-18 men's basketball schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
