
Baseball Begins Preseason Practice

NEW ORLEANS – With three weeks until the start of the 2018 baseball season, Tulane baseball opened preseason practice this weekend at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
The Green Wave begin their second season under head coach Travis Jewett Feb. 16 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The Wave began preparing for the season Friday and Saturday with a pair of training sessions that included a scrimmage on Friday.
Following Saturday's rain-shorted workout, the coaches and players greeted and met with season ticket holders in the James W. Wilson Jr. Center atrium to celebrate the start of the season. The gathering was part of a season ticket holder appreciation event in which fans picked up their ticket packages, heard from Jewett and met the players and obtained autographs.
Tulane welcomed back 15 letterwinners including two position starters, as well as six returning pitcher. The Wave feature 21 newcomers to the squad, including nine junior college or graduate transfers and 12 freshmen.
The Green Wave return to the field for another training session Sunday, followed by a scrimmage, before taking off Monday.
The third annual First Pitch Dinner will take place Saturday, Feb. 3 in the Multipurpose Room in Yulman Stadium. Tickets are $35 to 2018 baseball season ticket holders and $55 for general admission and can be purchased by clicking here. Space is limited.
