Baseball Announces First Fall Prospect Camp

NEW ORLEANS – With the 2016 fall practice schedule officially underway, Tulane baseball recently announced the date and times of its first fall prospect camp. On October 22, Tulane will open the gates of Greer Field at Turchin Stadium to 60 high school players graduating in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for an afternoon of college-level instruction in offense, defense, base running and much more.
"This camp will allow us to provide great instruction for young athletes around the country as well as bringing in young talent to give them exposure," said assistant coach Gabe Boruff, Tulane's baseball camp director. "I've been doing camps for a long time, and if you can reach out and help one player get better, it makes the whole camp worthwhile. We think it's important for kids to build relationships early on and get to know how college programs work before they're recruited. These camps give them the opportunity to do that."
Check in for the Saturday camp will begin at 11 a.m. From Noon-8 p.m., players will work through a series of pro-style workout circuits as well as offensive and defensive rotations, followed by live games and skill development rotations.
High schoolers will be instructed and have their skills evaluated by head coach Travis Jewett and his staff as well as current Green Wave players inside Tulane's top-of-the-line baseball facilities, including the weight room, locker rooms and the Theresa Sofio Hitting Facility.
Parents of participating athletes will also be invited to an information session put on by coach Jewett, where they will receive an inside look at the college baseball recruiting process and what to expect in the coming years.
The cost of the camp is $160, and registration will be open until the camp is full. For more information or to register for the camp, players can visit www.TulaneBaseballCamp.com or contact assistant coach Gabe Boruff at gboruff@tulane.edu or (504)314-7790.
