
Volleyball Goes Down in Straight Sets vs. Temple

PHILADELPHIAÂ -- Tulane volleyball had no answer for Temple, Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia, falling in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 27-25). The Green Wave's record moves to 13-12 overall, 2-10 The American.
The Green Wave dropped the opening set, 25-21, as they struggled to find a consistent offensive attack. Freshman outside hitter Nicole Levine made her collegiate debut in the first set, recording a service ace on the second serve of her career, and senior setter Justine Bowers posted 11 assists. Junior middle hitter Dayna Kern and freshman outside hitter Lexie Douglas each tallied four kills in the frame.
Temple hammered 16 kills (attack percentage of .500) in the second set to win, 25-12. Kern and Douglas each added two kills, but Tulane, hampered by five attack errors, struggled to improve upon its team attack percentage. Junior libero Lisa Mordell notched a service ace in the set.
Junior outside hitter Hannah Shaw powered the Green Wave's attack in the third set with three kills. Tulane trailed 22-18, but went on a run to take a late 25-24 lead. Tulane could not hold on, however, losing 27-25.
Douglas finished with a team-high eight kills, while freshman right side hitter Markenzie Benoit finished with seven (.333 attack percentage). Bowers totaled a team-high 28 assists, and sophomore libero Kaylie McHugh recorded a team-high 13 digs.
