Tulane Men's Golf Opens 1999-2000 Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Freshman Byron McDougall fired an opening-round 73 to lead the Tulane men's golf team, as it opened the 1999-2000 season at the Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational.
McDougall, a native of Wenatchee, Wash., shot a one-over-par 73 in his collegiate debut and currently stands tied for 33rd-place. Junior Justin Strausbaugh and freshman Byron Shultz each carded a 74 and are tied for 42nd place after 18 holes.
As a team, the Green Wave tallied a 297 (+9) and is tied for 16th place in the 24-team tournament. Notre Dame's team total of 275 leads the tournament by eight strokes over Wyoming. Xavier rounds out the top three at 285.
Other Tulane finishers included sophomore Gareth White, who shot a 76 and is tied for 73rd place, and freshman Louis DeValeix, who posted an 80 and is tied for 110th place.
The 54-hole event runs through Sunday at the Eisenhower-Blue Course, a par 72, 7,301-yard layout. The event is hosted by Air Force.
