
Tulane Cheer Tryouts for the 2026-2027 season will be hosted via virtual & invitation only in-person rounds. Round 1 will consist of each participant submitting a virtual highlight reel March 1, 2026 – April 3, 2026, followed by an invitation only in-person second round on Saturday, April 25, 2026 that will take place on campus.
You must be a full-time Tulane University student or incoming student with an official letter of acceptance from Tulane University. Current Tulane students and transfer students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher to be eligible to tryout.
If you have applied as a transfer student and will not find out if you will be accepted until May 2026, you ARE permitted to try out. Please bring an online printout of your application status to round 2 in-person tryouts.
Minimum Stunting Requirements:
- Quick toss or j-up to extension with full down dismount
- J-up to liberty
- Full up to extension
Round 1 Virtual Tryout Instructions:

- Once registered, create 1st round highlight reel (via YouTube) and submit between March 1, 2026 – April 3, 2026. Submissions are due by April 3, 2026, 11:59 p.m. CST
- You must be registered prior to submitting your highlight reel or your video will not be judged.
- All athletes must film stunting and tumbling videos in a black tank top and black spandex/athletic shorts (females) black athletic shorts (males) with a clean, slick back ponytail with white ribbon (female athletes only)
- Please e-mail the YouTube link (set video as unlisted) to twillis1@tulane.edu – please have your subject line show as “First Name Last Name Round 1 Cheer Submission” (ex. Tiffany Donovan Round 1 Cheer Submission)
- Results & Invitations for in-person second round will be emailed to participants in a rolling admissions fashion between March 15, 2026 – April 5, 2026.
- All athletes moving forward to in-person tryouts on campus will need to bring the following: completed cheer application, signed liability waiver(s), Tulane University Splash ID or Tulane University Acceptance Letter and a copy of your unofficial transcript.
Round 1 – Rolling Virtual Submission - March 1, 2026 – April 3, 2026
Part 1: Introduction
Please record a quick introduction clip of yourself
- Maximum of 3 minutes
- Please state your name, age, hometown, classification as of fall 2026, major, position you’re trying out for, and why you want to be a Tulane Cheerleader.
Can be one continuous video or 2 separate clips
- Best standing tumbling skill
- Best running tumbling skill
Part 3: Stunting
- Participants may add up to 10 videos max that highlight their stunting capabilities.
- Clips can be with different groups
- Clip 1: Quick toss or j-up to extension with full down dismount
- Clip 2: J-up to liberty
- Clip 3: Full up to extension
- Clip 4-10: these are optional – show any stunts of your choice. Use these clips to show your elite stunts and dismounts.
- Make sure your entire stunt fits in the frame.
- Clearly identify yourself in the video if there are multiple people.
- Shoot your video from the front.
Once all 3 parts are finalized, please edit into one continuous video, set video as unlisted on YouTube and submit to Head Coach at twillis1@tulane.edu
Round 2: Invitation Only In-Person Tryout – April 25, 2026
Round 2 invitations will receive all details for in-person via e-mail by April 5, 2026.

I am an incoming freshman. Can I attend tryouts before I come to Tulane?
Absolutely! We highly encourage all interested incoming freshmen to tryout for the team. Tryout information will be released on our website and social media each year.
Do members of Tulane Cheerleading receive scholarships or a stipend?
At this time, there are no university scholarships or stipends for Tulane Cheerleading members.
How often does Tulane Cheerleading practice?
Tulane Cheerleading practices two times a week for three-hour sessions. Practices are held in our athletic facilities. We also hold on field practices at Yulman Stadium in the mornings before every home football game.
Who creates the material?
The Head Cheer Coach in collaboration with members of Tulane Cheerleading team.
