Ishii Falls in Consolation Round

LAFAYETTE, La. - Tulane University sophomore Tatsuhiro Ishii (Nashville, Tenn.). advanced to the semifinals of the Flight B Singles Consolation Draw of the 2001 Cingular Wireless Tennis Tournament at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday.
Ishii, who had lost in the opening round of the tournament, rebounded to defeat Thatcher Cribbs from Lamar, 6-7, 6-0, 6-4 Saturday morning. In his consolation semifinal match in the afternoon, he fell, 6-0, 6-1 to Rick Phillip from Wake Forest.
On Friday, junior Mattias Westerberg (Lulea, Sweden) had won his Flight A opening round match, but lost in the second round while battling injury.
