Strausbaugh Leads Tulane Men's Golf at Beau Chene

MANDEVILLE, La. -- Senior Justin Strausbaugh led Tulane with rounds of 74, 76 and 73 to tie for 35th at seven-over par 223 as the Green Wave men's golf team finished 14th at the Beau Chene Collegiate Classic played Monday and Tuesday at Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville.
Despite posting second round individual scores of five-under par 67 by Byron Shultz and one-under par 71 by Bryon McDougall, Tulane could not come back from shooting an opening round 316 as a team. The Green Wave came back with two sub-300 rounds, totaling 294 in Monday's second round and adding a 297 Tuesday in the final 18 holes.
In addition to Strausbaugh's consistent effort, McDougall added a final round 73 to finish the 54-hole event tied for 43rd. Shultz and Phil Krass tied for 65th at 233.
The Green Wave is next in action March 5-6 at the LSU Spring Invitational in Baton Rouge.
