It will be an exciting weekend of baseball out at Turchin Stadium as the 24th-ranked Green Wave baseball team plays host to Pepperdine in a three-game series beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Throughout the weekend, and at every game this year, fans can participate in fun in-game promotions like the Mid City Rock and Bowl "Name that Tune" contest, Major Video "Movie Clip of the Game," Bruno's "Homerun Party" and Tulane Baseball Bingo.
Prior to Saturday's 2 p.m. game versus the Waves, Tulane Athletics will honor those Green Wave student-athletes in all sports who achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the fall 2002 semester. Fans are invited to arrive early for a chance to honor some of Tulane's best. In addition, throwing out the first pitch on Saturday will be New Orleans native son and Boston Red Sox legend Mel Parnell. Parnell pitched 10 seasons in the major leagues, was named an All-Star twice and is still the winningest left-handed pitcher in Red Sox history.
Then on Sunday, beginning at the new game time of 3:30 p.m., Green Wave fans will celebrate the Mardi Gras season. Throughout the game, fans will be invited to take part in games such as the "Mardi Gras Mambo Contest" with the chance to win Mardi Gras beads, king cakes and much more.
Please note that Sunday's start time has been moved to 3:30 p.m. so that fans can attend the nationally-televised women's basketball game, the Wave's final home game of the 2003 season, at 1 p.m. in Fogelman Arena.
