Fans of Tulane and LSU are encouraged to show their school spirit at Tuesday's college baseball game in the Superdome by participating in a canned food drive which will benefit Second Harvesters Food Bank of New Orleans. For the second year in a row, the Tulane Athletics Department and the Food Bank have teamed to hold the canned food drive in conjunction with the intrastate baseball matchup, which begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29th in the Louisiana Superdome.
Fans are encouraged to help those less fortunate in the greater New Orleans area by bringing canned food to the Superdome with them and depositing it in the containers at the entrances. Containers will be decorated in Tulane and LSU colors.
Last year's record crowd of 27,673 for the Tulane-LSU matchup in the 'Dome made a tremendous contribution to area food banks, and this year the Tulane Athletics Department is looking to create an even larger impact.
"We think this is a wonderful opportunity to take a marquee event and use it to help the community. We hope that fans will clean out their cupboards and then come enjoy a great game," Associate Athletic Director Scott Sidwell said.
