
Loyal Fans Leave Their Mark on Campus

New Orleans - Because of the response, the Tulane University Athletics Department has expanded the scope of the Turchin Stadium Brick Campaign that allows fans and supporters an opportunity to be a permanent part of Green Wave history in building the new, state-of-the-art Turchin Stadium.
"The brick campaign has generated significant interest from Tulanians nationwide and their response was immediate and enthusiastic," says Mike Harrington, assistant director of development. "Not long after the start of the project, we were forced to reconfigure the installation plan in order to accommodate the quantity of orders. Tulane Athletics worked in conjunction with the capital projects staff and the stadium contractors to designate additional space for the brick campaign."
Proceeds from the Tulane Athletics Brick Campaign benefit the renovation project for Turchin Stadium, home of the Green Wave baseball team. Quantities of bricks are limited and paver availability will be issued in a first-come, first-serve basis. Pavers can be used as a personal dedication or to a loved one or a favorite Green Wave student-athlete or fan. The first shipment of pavers to the uptown campus is scheduled for Aug. 15.
"Tulane enjoys an incredibly loyal fan base, and they are very excited about this unique opportunity to permanently leave their mark on Tulane's campus," Harrington says. "This project is especially popular with our alumni and fans who live outside the greater New Orleans area and those who are not able to spend much time on campus, as it allows them to form a unique connection with Tulane."
Harrington expects sale of the commemorative bricks to extend through the 2007-2008 academic year, space permitting.
Tulane is offering three individually engraved brick options -- the brick paver, the logo paver and the granite paver -- that will be used to form the gateway to the new Turchin Stadium. The eight-by-eight inch brick and logo pavers will be in the fan plaza outside of the stadium, while the 16-by-16-inch granite pavers will be placed just inside the entrance of the new stadium.
The commemorative pavers feature up to six lines of text and are available starting at $275. The brick paver features an option of using six full lines of text, while the logo paver features Tulane's marquee T-Wave logo and up to four lines of text. The granite paver has the T-Wave logo and six lines of text, and comes with a replica for display in the home or office. Replica brick pavers and logo pavers for personal collections are available starting at $75 with the purchase of the paver.
"The Tulane Athletics Brick Campaign will provide valuable resources for the Turchin Stadium reconstruction project, but more importantly it is a permanent and powerful statement of support for our student-athletes from all sports," Harrington says. "With the reinstatement of our sports programs, the reconstruction of Turchin Stadium, and the addition of Bob Toledo as head coach of Tulane Football, there has never been a more exciting time to support Tulane Athletics."
