The Tulane Green Wave football team opens its 121st season this Thursday, Sept. 3 against the Duke Blue Devils from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) at Yulman Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 8:34 p.m. CST.

2. After Beating Cancer, Tulane's Luke Jackson Looks to Tackle Opponents
For the first two years of his collegiate career, Tulane redshirt-sophomore defensive end Luke Jackson has not been battling for playing time. Instead, he was fighting for his life.

Not long after he landed on the Tulane campus, the LaPlace, Louisiana, native was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Jackson received his diagnosis in November of 2013, finished chemotherapy treatment the following February, had surgery to remove lymph nodes in his abdomen that April. He has been cancer free since then.
This Thursday, Jackson will look to make his collegiate debut when the Green Wave open the season at home against Duke.
"He's going to play," Tulane coach Curtis Johnson said. "He's having a phenomenal camp."
3. Moses Returns! Sophomore Cross Country Standout Moses Aloiloi Looks to Top His Terrific Freshman Campaign
Sophomore Moses Aloiloi and the Tulane men's and women's cross country teams make their season debuts this Friday, Sept. 4 at the South Alabama Cross Country Opener. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Aloiloi posted four top-five finishes, an additional top-10 finish and a top-20 finish and broke the school record in the 10K at the NCAA South Central Regional (11/14) with a time of 30:19.2. He also broke the school record in the 4-mile with a time of 19:16.1 at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede (9/27) where he finished second, but was the top collegiate runner.
4. Riptide Returns!
Riptide, the lovable official mascot of Tulane Athletics, makes his much-anticipated return on Thursday night when the Green Wave host Duke in the football season opener at Yulman Stadium.
Over the past few months, Riptide has received a light make over and has been working hard for his fans. Here is Riptide working out with the football team during fall camp:
On the Field | In the Weight Room
Riptide dates back to 1998 when Tulane unveiled a new family of marks. The new logos featured the return of the pelican to the Green Wave look, along with the use of a "T" with a modern "wave" as a primary logo mark. A new pelican mascot was introduced and given the name Riptide by a vote of Tulane students.
In the summer of 2015, Riptide received its first make-over since its inception and features a more sleeker, modern look.
5. Tulane Completes "Yulman Challenge"
As the Green Wave football team prepares for its Sept. 3 season opener against Duke, Tulane University officials have announced the successful completion of the Yulman Challenge issued last year by Richard Yulman during the dedication of the stadium that bears his family's name.
Noting at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the newly christened Yulman Stadium, to which he had already given $15 million, was $20 million short of being completely funded, Yulman pledged another $5 million on the spot, bringing his total contribution to the stadium to $20 million. He then challenged Green Wave fans to raise the remaining $15 million.
"Some people thought that was audacious, but I knew when I laid down the challenge that Tulane fans, alumni, parents and friends would rise up," Yulman said. "They sent the message that our student-athletes deserve a home like this to defend."
