NEW ORLEANS - Tulane football is back on the gridiron this Saturday seeking to bring its overall record back to .500 to close out its September slate.
Storylines:
    • Tulane (1-2, 0-1 American Athletic Conference | West) closes out its three-game homestand with a clash with another in-state opponent in UL Lafayette (2-1, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference).
   • The matchup with the Ragin' Cajuns is the Green Wave's 15th game at Yulman Stadium since the start of the 2014 season. The Green Wave are 5-9 in games played at its on-campus home over that time.
   • Saturday's matchup is just Tulane's third at Yulman Stadium against an in-state opponent. The Green Wave were victorious in the previous two games – Southeastern Louisiana (35-20) on Sept. 13, 2014 and Southern (66-21) on Sept. 10, 2016.
   • In each of the three previous seasons, Tulane split its first two home games and then earned a win in its third home game – 2013 (defeated Jackson State, lost to South Alabama and defeated North Texas), 2014 (lost to Georgia Tech, defeated     Southeastern Louisiana and defeated UConn) and 2015 (lost to Duke, defeated Maine and defeated UCF).
   • Defense has been Tulane's calling card so far in 2016. The Green Wave enter the week ranked in the top 15 nationally in three defensive categories – passing defense (12th, 145.3 yards per game), turnover margin (13th, 1.3 per game) and fumbles     recovered (6th, 4).
   • On the other side of the ball, Tulane's rushing offense stands as one of the best in the nation, ranked 11th at 274.3 yards per game. Twelve different players have carried the ball at least once for the Green Wave. Freshman quarterback Johnathan     Brantley (21), redshirt senior running back Josh Rounds (23), redshirt sophomore quarterback Glen Cuiellette (29) and junior running back Dontrell Hilliard (33) power the triple-option attack for the Olive and Blue as each has 20 or more rush attempts     through the first three games.
Series Notes:
    • Saturday's game marks the 28th on-field meeting between Tulane and UL Lafayette. The Green Wave lead the on-field series, 21-6. Officially, this is the 26th meeting with a 21-4 record as UL Lafayette vacated the 2012 regular-season (UL     Lafayette 41, Tulane 13) and 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl (UL Lafayette 24, Tulane 21) games due to NCAA sanctions.Â
   • That last on-field meeting was a thrilling one as Tulane's Cairo Santos missed a potential tying 48-yard field goal after UL Lafayette's Hunter Stover nailed the first field goal of his career, a 27-yarder, in front of a New Orleans Bowl-record crowd of     54,728 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
   • Tulane's last home win over the Cajuns was a 48-32 victory on Oct. 16, 1999.
Scouting the Ragin' Cajuns:
    • UL Lafayette (2-1, 1-0 Sun Belt) is coming off a 28-23 win over South Alabama on Sept. 17. The Ragin' Cajuns rolled up 512 yards total offense in the victory.
   • Senior transfer quarterback Anthony Jennings tied a career-high with three passing touchdowns against South Alabama. He passed for three touchdowns as a sophomore at LSU against Sam Houston State in 2014. Jennings posted a career-best     256 passing yards going 18-for-26 in the win.
   • Senior RB Elijah McGuire enters Saturday's game needing 212 all-purpose yards to pass Tyrell Fenroy (5,231) as the school's all-time leader. With 5,020 all-purpose yards in his career, he is one of four active NCAA Football Subdivision  players     with 5,000 all-purpose yards.
   • The Ragin' Cajuns have 21 players from the New Orleans Metropolitan Area (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany and Plaquemines Parishes).
Tulane vs The Sun Belt:
    • Saturday's game vs. UL Lafayette will mark the school's 33rd game against a team from the Sun Belt Conference. Tulane has an all-time record of 24-8 against current Sun Belt Conference schools. The Green Wave have played three members of     the Sun Belt: UL Lafayette (21-6), Louisiana-Monroe (3-1) and South Alabama (0-1).
   • Tulane's last victory over a Sun Belt opponent was a 31-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 28, 2013.
Green Wave vs In-State Schools:
    • When Tulane takes the field against UL Lafayette on Saturday, it will mark the 163rd time in school history that the Green Wave have faced an in-state opponent.
