HOUSTON - The Tulane men's basketball team will close out a string of back-to-back American Athletic Conference road games when it tries for a second straight win over Houston on Sunday, February 11.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. (CT) at H&PE Arena, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU with streaming available on the WatchESPN app. Brett Dolan will call play-by-play action, while Mark Wise provides color commentary.
HISTORY LESSON
• Sunday's meeting between the Green Wave and Cougars will mark the 40th all-time, as Houston leads the series, 21-18.
• The teams last met January 17 in New Orleans, as Tulane held on for an 81-72 triumph.Â
• In a game that featured eight second-half lead changes, Cameron Reynolds led four players in double-figures with a team-high 22 points. Reynolds made six of nine 3-pointers to notch his fifth 20-point performance of the season, while Jordan Cornish added 14 points. Samir Sehic fell just shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
• Rob Gray scored a game-high 24 points to go with five rebounds and five assists, as Fabian White, Jr., led all players with 12 rebounds and four blocks off the bench.
LAST TIME OUT
• Playing its second overtime game in just nine days, Tulane placed five scorers in double-figures, but was outscored by 10 points in the second half before falling at Tulsa, 91-89, on Thursday night.
• Samir Sehic led all players with 21 points on 8-for-11 shooting - his third 20-point performance of the season, while Jordan Cornish matched a career-high with 20 points in his second 20-point effort in as many games to complement five assists. For the second game in a row, Cameron Reynolds notched a double-double, his fourth of the season, with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
• Earning his second start of the season, Colin Slater matched a personal best with 14 points and handed out a career-high seven assists, as Caleb Daniels chipped in 14 points and three assists.
• Tulsa (14-10, 7-5 AAC) also had five players score in double digits, led by Junior Etou's 19 points and 11 rebounds. Corey Henderson, Jr., dropped 19 points, as Martins Igbanu and Sterlin Taplin contributed 17 points apiece. Jaleel Wheeler added 11 points and nine boards.
• The Green Wave shot nearly 51 percent from the field and outscored the Golden Hurricane, 48-40, in the paint, 21-12 off turnovers, 35-19 off the bench and 6-2 on the fast break, but were topped, 19-9, on second chances.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Despite playing all of its home games at H&PE Arena on the campus of Texas Southern University due to renovations to Hofheinz Pavilion, Houston owns a perfect 11-0 record as the home team this season and has won four of its last five conference games.
• The Cougars rank second in The American in scoring (77.2) and 3-point field goal percentage (.387), while standing third in scoring margin (+11.2), field goal percentage (.462), field goal percentage defense (.395), rebounding (39.2), rebounding margin (+6.3) and 3-pointers made per game (8.5). The only major category they rank in the bottom three of the league in is blocks per game (3.3).
• Rob Gray ranks second among all players in the conference in scoring (18.2 ppg), fourth in assists per game (4.4) and ninth in free throw percentage (.812). Corey Davis, Jr., is third in 3-point field goal percentage (.447), while Armoni Brooks is fifth (.435).
FIVE AVERAGING DOUBLE-DIGIT POINTS
• As of February 9, Tulane is one of just 24 teams in NCAA Division I men's basketball, and one of just two in the American Athletic Conference, with at least five active players averaging double-digit points per game.
• Melvin Frazier (16.5), Cameron Reynolds (15.9), Samir Sehic (10.9), Jordan Cornish (10.3) and Ray Ona Embo (10.2) are responsible for 84.2 percent of the Green Wave's scoring.
• SMU is the only other team in the conference with at least five, and in fact, is one of just three teams nationally along with Villanova and Gonzaga with six players averaging at least 10 points per game.
SLATER'S SHINY START
• Colin Slater earned his second start of the season in the overtime loss at Tulsa on February 8 and matched a career-high with 14 points, while setting personal bests in field goals made (5), assists (7) and minutes played (44).
• Slater's last 14-point performance came during his first collegiate game and start on Nov. 11, 2016 against 6th-ranked North Carolina.
FRAZIER, REYNOLDS AMONG THE AMERICAN'S TOP SCORING TANDEMS
• Melvin Frazier (16.5 PPG) and Cameron Reynolds (15.9 PPG) rank as the No. 1 scoring duo in the American Athletic Conference this season:

FRAZIER'S FINEST
• Melvin Frazier is the only player in NCAA Division I men's basketball shooting at least 55 percent from the field and averaging at least 2.4 steals per game this season.
• He has nine 20-point performances and three double-doubles, while his .589 shooting percentage leads all players in the American Athletic Conference.
AAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
• Tulane has had players named to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll on four occasions this season, including Samir Sehic (Nov. 13), Cameron Reynolds (Jan. 8) and Melvin Frazier twice (Jan. 15 and Jan. 22).
MAN OF STEALS
• Melvin Frazier ranks first in the American Athletic Conference in steals (52) and steals per game (2.4), and has at least three heists in 11 contests this season.
• As a sophomore, Frazier finished the 2016-17 regular season No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference in steals per game (1.9), while his 55 takeaways ranked second overall.
BRINGING THE RAIN
• The Green Wave have made double-digit 3-pointers in seven games this season, including in three straight games against Alcorn State (14) on Nov. 29, at North Carolina (10) on Dec. 3 and vs. Southern (10) on Dec. 6.
• Tulane's 14 treys against Alcorn State and at Memphis on Jan. 9 were not only season highs, but tied for the third most in a single game in program history.
• The Wave have hit at least 14 3-pointers just six times in school history, with the most being 16 in a 2015 matchup against UCF.
