NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University's successful video feature 'Making Waves: From the West Bank of New Orleans to the NBA' has been named a finalist for the 11th Annual Sports Video Group (SVG)/National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) College Sports Media Awards.
'Making Waves' is one of just seven remaining nominees in the running for Outstanding Special Feature in Collegiate Athletics.
The three-part social media hit premiered in June 2018, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the roots of former local men's basketball star Melvin Frazier Jr.'s upbringing to his selection in the 2018 NBA Draft.
"I'm extremely proud of the hard work our external team has put in to complete successful projects like these throughout the year," Tulane senior associate athletic director for external operations Jana Woodson said. "It's exciting to see our productions share the same national spotlight alongside the great work of the other finalists."
The SVG/NCADA College Sports Media Awards represent various college athletic and academic departments as well as professional networks, production companies and student productions. There are 20 categories spread across four divisions.
Joining 'Making Waves' as finalists in the Outstanding Special Feature category includes two separate productions 'Faith' and 'Relentless' by Duke University, 'Signing Day' by Penn State University, 'Remember When' by the University of Notre Dame, 'Kenneth Murray's Why' by the University of Oklahoma and 'Play It Out For Brittany' by the University of San Francisco.
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the 11th-annual College Sports Media Awards ceremony on May 30 at the SVG College Summit at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta.
