
Tulane Athletics Posts Record-Breaking Day on Give Green

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Athletics posted a record-breaking day during the university's third annual "Give Green: A Day for the Audacious" 24-hour campaign on June 25.
Over the day of giving period, Tulane Athletics secured the most gifts in Group A to earn the Big Green Grand Prize for the second straight year, as it received 435 contributions totaling $161,715. The Big Green Grand Prize, sponsored by Carol Lavin Bernick, awards Tulane departments and unit bonus funds for the highest number of gifts on Give Green.
"The on-going commitment from our donors in support of our student-athletes and Tulane athletics is remarkable," Tulane Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. "I can't thank our supporters enough for stepping up in this time of considerable uncertainty in such an unprecedented way. Their endorsement of what is happening at Tulane is significant, and appreciated by each student-athlete, coach and staff member."

Tulane Athletics' 424 unique donors on the day represented a world-wide following representing six countries (USA, Germany, Australia, Columbia, Canada and Finland). In addition, 34 states and the District of Columbia were also represented.
"The Tulane Athletics community truly made a strong statement during Give Green," Associate Athletics Director for Development Tyler Kai said. "I would like to thank everyone involved that made Give Green a tremendous success. Our student-athletes, coaches, departmental staff and donors have shown what we can accomplish when aligned behind a single goal."
Among Tulane contributors, 167 gifts came from letterwinners which represented all 17 varsity athletic programs. Tulane also welcomed 137 individuals that made their very first gift to the Green Wave Club.
Tulane Athletics also received a strong contribution from current and professional athletes which included gifts from Orleans Darkwa (NFL), Bobby Duhon (NFL), Ryan Grant (NFL), Kody Hoese (MLB), Shaun King (NFL), Dominik Koepfer (ATP Tennis professional), John Leglue (NFL), Tommy Manzella (MLB), Christian Montano (NFL) and Tanzel Smart (NFL).
Throughout the day, Tulane University received nearly $1,113,469 was raised from over 2,733 gifts. The results represent an increase of about 62 percent from the previous year.
The day also featured the Raise the Bar Challenge Fund from Everard and Britta Marks. The challenge fund from the Marks family, motivated support on the day by setting a target gift total of 300 which the department surpassed, unlocking a $5,000 gift in the process.
Videos and updates were posted across various social media platforms throughout the event, ensuring that the excitement continued to rise. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram broadcasted the day's triumphs to Tulanians both near and far.
