
Tulane Football Picked to Finish Sixth in The American Athletic Conference

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University football team was picked to finish the 2020 season sixth in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, the league announced on Tuesday.

The Green Wave enter the 2020 campaign in search of their third straight bowl appearance. Tulane has never played in a bowl game in three straight seasons.

Tulane closed out the 2019 season on a high note after it defeated Southern Miss, 30-13, in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. The Green Wave had never won bowl games in back-to-back seasons prior to last year.

Tulane enters the 2020 season with 14 returning starters, including five on offense, seven on defense and two on special teams.

Head coach Willie Fritz returns for his fifth season on the sidelines. In four seasons at Tulane, Fritz has posted 23 wins, including 12 in The American.

The Green Wave are set to kickoff their 2020 season in Mobile, Alabama, against South Alabama on Saturday, September 12.

UCF was picked to win the conference championship, as it received 204 points.
