Football Gives Back to the New Orleans Community
Apr 30, 2021 | Football
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University football team partnered with Sustaining Our Urban Landscape (SOUL) to give back to the New Orleans community on Friday morning.
The Green Wave traveled to the lower ninth ward to assist in planting trees to bolster SOUL's mission. Former Tulane wide receiver Sorrell Brown helped organize the event as a current intern at SOUL.
"We are so proud of our guys for getting involved in the community," Green Wave associate director of football player engagement and on-campus recruiting Lauren Davis said. "Sorrell Brown has done a tremendous job of leading and setting a great example for our team. Our team has been through a lot this past season and it was great to see them come together for the community."
Tulane recently finished No. 5 in the NCAA Team Works HelperHelper Competition for the second year in a row.
SOUL is driving a resilient and environmentally equitable New Orleans by reforesting our urban landscape. They plant trees to serve as natural systems and infrastructure. The clusters they plant better stave off flooding, reduce pollution, improve community health and provide beauty and shade.
