Tulane Athletics Launches 50th Anniversary of Title IX Celebration

NEW ORLEANS – To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Title IX being signed into law on June 23, Tulane Athletics is proud to announce a number of initiatives that will be held throughout the 2022-23 competition season to mark the golden anniversary of this landmark legislation.
Special social media content, in-game celebrations at select Tulane Athletics home events and season ticket discounts for volleyball and women's basketball are among the highlights.
"Title IX's thirty-seven words brought about transformational change across our country, including college athletics," said Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair Troy Dannen. "I'm proud that this campaign will provide our female student athletes, coaches and administrators the chance to reflect and talk about how this legislation, adopted 30 years before some were born, has enabled their opportunities today."
On social media, a number of content series will be created to celebrate and educate fans on the history of women's sports and the impact of Title IX both at Tulane and in the world of college athletics. These will include:
Tulane Athletics will also have a series of Title IX celebrations held at ticketed sports throughout the 2022-23 competitive season. Events planned include recognition of current women's programs, in-game content and special giveaways. More information on specific dates for these celebration games will be announced at a later date.
The 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony, set for Friday, October 7, will also have a Title IX flair, as the first three varsity women's teams in Tulane history, the 1975 volleyball, 1975-76 women's basketball and 1976 tennis squads, will be welcomed back to campus and inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame.
Finally, season tickets for Tulane Volleyball and Women's Basketball can be had in 2022-23 for a special price of $50 per sport. Volleyball season packages are available now and can be purchased at TulaneTix.com or by phone at 504-861-WAVE(9283). Information on Tulane Women's Basketball packages will be available at a date later this summer.

- Important Dates in Title IX History: A graphic series on Tulane social media channels that will highlight important dates with regard to Title IX and the history of women's sports at Tulane and in college athletics as a whole.
- Video interviews with current Tulane student athletes that will provide a platform for them to talk about the impact of Title IX on the opportunities they have had and the importance for gender equality in sports.
- The Current – Title IX Spotlights: Segments on Tulane's official podcast, The Current, that will feature prominent female student-athletes, coaches and administrators from Tulane Athletics history.
