HARAHAN – The No. 22 nationally ranked Tulane University bowling had a strong opening day of the Colonial Lanes Classic, held at Colonial Lanes, in recording a mark of 4-1 against the competition and 4959 pins. The pin total places the Green Wave in third place overall.
The team is averaging 198.4 pins per game and topped 1000 pins in three of the five matches. North Carolina A&T leads the field of 16 with 5260 pins following the five baker matches.
Tulane started the day with a 1069-990 victory over Southern University. The individual game scores were 219-179, 246-228, 174-198, 206-203 and 224-182.
The Green Wave earned the 1016-931 win against UAB in the second match. The individual game scores were 162-208, 227-190, 237-139, 177-172 and 193-222.
Tulane made it three wins in as many matches with a 994-908 victory over Alabama A&M. The individual games scores were 208-172, 184-194,165-172, 214-190 and 223-180.
The fourth match saw the program fall to UMES by a 976-832 score. The individual game scores were 198-200, 142-194, 166-188, 158-215 and 178-179.
The program rebounded with a 1048-907 victory over Emmanuel to close the first day of action. The individual game scores were 176-191, 207-148, 220-221, 222-157, 224-190.
The second day of the tournament on Saturday is a format of five (5) traditional team games. Tulane begins the second day against Florida A&M on lanes 13-140. The second match of the day and the seventh match overall features Tulane and North Carolina A&T in lanes 17-18. In the third match of the day and the eighth match overall, the Green Wave and Prairie View A&M are competing in lanes 21-22. In the fourth match of the day and the ninth match overall, Tulane and Jackson State are in lanes 7-8. In the fifth match of the day and the 10th overall, the Green Wave and Sam Houston State are in lanes 15-16.
