
Bowling Earns NTCA Team All-Academic Honors

Five Team Members Chosen As NTCA All-Academic Selections

Smithfield, Rhode Island  – The Tulane bowling team were big winners in the recently announced National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Awards. The team was one of 42 nationally to be recognized by NTCA. The program also saw five individual team members recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom for the 2022-23 school year.
As a team, the Green Wave earned the NTCA All-Academic Team Award with a 3.488 cumulative GPA during the 2022-23 season. The team's GPA ranked the program 17th overall among all bowling teams in the NCAA. Programs must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the 2022-23 academic school year to qualify for the award. A total of 42 bowling programs achieved a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher this season.
This is the ninth straight year the Tulane's team has achieved status as an NTCA All-Academic Team.
Five members of the bowling team were named NTCA All-Academic as individuals. A student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher for the academic school year to qualify for the award. This year there are 285 honorees, representing NCAA bowling programs at 57 schools.

Amelia Vasquez, 3.975 GPA, Design and Psychology (majors) / Strategy, Leadership and Analytics (minor)
Yarelis Alvarez, 3.777 GPA, Studio Art (major) / Art History (minor)
Morgan Gitlitz, 3.523 GPA, Cell and Molecular Biology (major)
Sofiia Druchyna, 4.00 GPA, Information Technology and Computer Science (majors)
Katharina Mente, 3.532 GPA, Philosophy (major) / Heath & Wellness and Strategy Leadership & Analytics (minors)
Alvarez and Vasquez were both on the NTCA All-Academic team last year.
Earlier in the summer, Tulane bowling program saw six of its student-athletes named to the Southland Bowling League's Academic Honor Roll
The group for Tulane included senior Jenica Baron, Vasquez, Gitlitz, Alvarez, Mente and Druchyna.
During the month of June, it was announced that the Tulane bowling program is changing leagues and will now be a member of Conference USA starting with the 2023-24 campaign.
For the completed 2022-23 season, Gitlitz led the team with 7,992 total pins. Vasquez had the highest average on the squad at 195.8, while Stolakis recorded the highest individual performance with her 266 against UMES (10/15). Tulane sported an overall 71-51 record this season.
