Bowling Begins Northeast Classic

NEW CASTLE – Tulane Bowling kicked off its first day of 2025 competition today at the Northeast Classic hosted by Sacred Heart University. The five-match slate ended in two wins and three losses for the Green Wave.Â
Tulane started the day with a victory over Holy Family University, where they beat the Tigers 869-769. The Green Wave triumphed in all five games, winning 176-158, 185-153, 179-161, 159-140, and 170-157.Â
The Wave next faced No. 5 Arkansas State, who claimed the match 1008 to 940. The Green Wave won games two (216-211) and five (195-193), but were overrun by the Red Wolves in games one (212-147), three (194-188), and four (198-194).Â
Valparaiso University then overtook the Wave 921-901 in the third match of the day. Tulane clinched games two (194-162) and three (212-159), but the Beacons had games one (198-170), four (186-132), and five (216-193). Â
Tulane then defeated Bryant University 915-908 for their second win of the day. The Green Wave crafted their success from victories in games three (211-148) and five (179-162), overcoming losses in games one (212-186), two (183-170), and four (203-169).
In the final match of the day, Youngstown University prevailed over Tulane 974-851. The Penguins also claimed all five games, winning 224-156, 159-175, 169-175, 209-181, and 191-186.Â
Tulane finished out the first day ranked 31st with 4,476 points. The University of Nebraska, Sam Houston State University, and Youngstown State University are placed first, second, and third.Â
Tomorrow, Tulane will take on five more teams in traditional matches, beginning at 9:25 a.m.
