
Ricci Named American Conference Freshman of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – Campbell Ricci of Tulane women's tennis was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and earned All-Conference honors the league announced on Wednesday.

Ricci was the first player for the Green Wave to be named AAC Freshman of the Year since Ivone Alvaro landed Co-Freshman of the Year honors in 2017. She was also the first Tulane player to garner All-AAC selection since Lahari Yelamanchili in 2022.

The Las Vegas native earned the league recognitions after posting a 14-2 record at the No. 1 singles position for the Wave this spring. She finished the year a perfect 10-0 at home and 6-0 against conference opponents during the regular season.

Ricci earned four singles victories against ranked teams including three conference foes. She was named the AAC Player of the Week on April 8 following Tulane's victory over No. 43 during which Ricci defeated the top-ranked singles player in The American, No. 79 Maria Berlanga, in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 77-63.

In doubles play, Ricci tallied a 12-7 mark at the No. 1 doubles position playing alongside Summer Chandler and Leigh Van Zyl. She went 1-1 with Chandler to begin the season before teaming with Van Zyl to post an 11-6 record the remainder of the season.
