Tulane's Wave Time Spring Tour to Include 10 Stops in 2004

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane Athletics has embarked on its third annual Spring Tour with the 2004 jaunt carrying on the "It's Wave Time" theme of this spring's Tulane Athletics Fund Annual Drive. The "Wave Time" Spring Tour has expanded to include stops in 10 different locales, including its first out-of-state date in Houston, Texas. In addition, this year's tour will include expanded guest lists as all Tulane alumni and friends in each city will be invited to attend the free reception.
During the Wave Time Spring Tour, Tulane coaches and athletics administrators travel to each city for a day of visits and meetings, topped off by a reception that evening. At the reception, fans can visit one-on-one with members of the Tulane staff while also hearing presentations from each coach and from Director of Athletics Rick Dickson.
Each evening's reception is open to all fans, donors and alumni in the area and this year, Tulane Athletics is working closely with the Tulane Alumni Association to get the word out to more followers than ever before as the Green Wave, through the Tulane Athletics Fund, has set a goal to expand its base of support in 2004.
The Wave Time Spring Tour is spread out over three months as the tour made its first stop March 8 on the Northshore and visits the Gulf Coast March 23 with a visit to Gulfport, Miss. before embarking on the northern Louisiana portion of the 2004 adventure April 19-20-21 in Monroe, Shreveport and Alexandria, respectively. In May, the Green Wave contingent will be in Houston, Lake Charles, Lafayette and Baton Rouge on May 22, 23, 24 and 25. The May date for the Houma/Thibodaux tour stop is still being scheduled. The trip to Houston marks the first out-of-state event in the three years of the Spring Tour.
Coaches who have committed to at least some of the 2004 Wave Time Spring Tour stops include head coaches Chris Scelfo (football), Shawn Finney (men's basketball), Lisa Stockton (women's basketball) and Betsy Becker (volleyball) along with Dickson and other Green Wave athletics administrators.
"Our coaches and staff really enjoy going out and talking to fans and supporters throughout the state with the annual Spring Tour," Dickson said. "It's really a fantastic opportunity for us to bring a little bit of Tulane Athletics to each city and have personal interaction with our fans and friends, and provides them with a chance to talk personally with our coaches in a relaxed setting."
