Karr Shannon Named Assistant Strength Coach

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane head strength and conditioning coach Mike Iosia announced Thursday that Karr Shannon has joined the staff as an assistant coach.
Shannon, who will directly with the football, baseball and women's basketball programs, comes to Tulane after spending last season at Henderson (Ark.) State University, where he was the head strength and conditioning coach and an assistant football coach in charge of linebackers.
"I am excited about the opportunity to come back to Tulane University," said Shannon. "I look forward to working with the coaches and student-athletes and contributing to their successes."
Shannon was a member of the Green Wave strength and conditioning staff from January 1998 through April 1999 and was an integral part of Tulane's 12-0 football season in 1998. In his first stint in New Orleans, Shannon was a part of five Conference USA championship teams.
Prior to coming to Tulane, Shannon was a four-year football letterman at the University of Southern Mississippi. While at USM, Shannon was a GTE/CoSIDA District IV Academic All-American and a member of the 1997 American Football Coaches Association "Good Works" All-America team.
He received his bachelor's degree in human performance from Southern Miss in 1996 and his master's in human performance in 1997.
Shannon, 25, is married to the former Susan Stephenson. The couple is expecting their first child in July.
