NEW ORLEANS, La. - - The Tulane men's and women's tennis teams each earned recognition in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national polls, release Tuesday by the ITA.
The men's team improved one spot to 29th after having won seven of its last nine matches to improve to 11-6. Women's tennis coach Jennifer Melius also picked up an individual honor of her own over the weekend, earning her 200th career win with Tulane's 9-0 victory over C-USA rival UAB.
Individually, Tulane's Robert Samuelsson is ranked 17th in the latest men's poll, while Dennis Lundberg enters this week's poll at 100th. In the women's poll, Tulane's Anna Monhartova slipped to 92nd, despite having turned in a 14-0 record in singles play so far this spring.
In doubles action, the Tulane tandem of Samuelsson and Ronald Kloppert is currently ranked 41st in the men's poll.
The Tulane women's team returns to action on Saturday, as the Green Wave travel to Orlanda, Fla., to face Central Florida before a Monday meeting with C-USA rival South Florida in Tampa.
The Tulane men's team takes a short hiatus for Spring Break before returning to the Goldring Tennis Stadium to play host to Middle Tennessee State on April 2.
