Tulane Student-Athletes to Hold First Varsity Ball
April 11, 2001
NEW ORLEANS -- As the 2000-01 academic and athletic seasons come to a close, the Tulane Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) will host the first Varsity Ball in the Kendall Cram Room of the Tulane University Center on Monday, April 30. The event will honor the seniors from all 16 Green Wave teams who completed their eligibility this year.
The Varsity Ball will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception on the second floor of the University Center. Dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available to the general public for $30. Tulane student-athletes and members of the athletic staff, including coaches, will be admitted free.
While all student-athletes and coaches are expected to be in attendance at the event, the Varsity Ball will focus on honoring the seniors of 2000-01. Director of Athletics Rick Dickson, as well as members of the Green Wave coaching staff, will speak.
The event is being coordinated by members of Tulane's Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB). SAAB is a group of Green Wave student-athletes from all sports which is assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and to offer input on the rules, regulations and polices that affect student-athletes' lives. They are heavily involved with community service activities on the Tulane campus, including the recently completed "Shadow A Student-Athlete Day". This is the first time they have organized an all-sports banquet.
For information on the Varsity Ball, or to purchase tickets, call the Tulane Green Wave Ticket Office at 861-WAVE. Student-athletes, coaches and athletic staff are asked to RSVP to 862-8246.
