New C-USA Commissioner to Speak at 2003 Varsity Ball

New Orleans, La. - Britton Banowsky, Conference USA Commissioner, will be the guest speaker at Tulane Athletics' Third Annual 2003 Varsity Ball on Monday, April 28th at the Radisson Hotel New Orleans.
The event, which will be held in the Main Ballroom of the hotel, will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the awards ceremony, featuring the Green Wave head coaches, seniors and outstanding scholar-athletes.
The Varsity Ball will celebrate Tulane Athletic successes of the 2002-2003 seasons while honoring 52 seniors in all 14 sports. This year-end awards banquet, which is open to the public, will honor the Green Wave student-athletes and will document their achievements both on and off the field and is capped by the 2002-03 Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.
Banowsky was named the second commissioner of Conference USA on Oct. 28, 2002 after spending six years as the associate commissioner of the Big 12 Conference. Before moving to the Big 12, Banowsky served as Commissioner of the Southland Conference, where he helped the expansion the Southland Football League which is now among the top I-AA football conferences in the nation. He graduated from University of Oklahoma College of Business in 1983 and earned his law degree from the school in 1986.
Sean Kelley, the radio "Voice of the Green Wave," will emcee the event.
Tickets are available for $40 per person or $350 for a table of 10 by calling the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office at 504-861-WAVE, or by stopping by the Ticket Office in the James W. Wilson Center. Deadline to reserve tickets is Wednesday, April 23.
