WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Jim Freeman, a 15-year radio play-by-play veteran who most recently served as director of broadcasting for Miami (O.) University, is the new Tulane University "Voice of the Green Wave" on both radio and television.
The announcement was jointly made today be the Tulane Department of Athletics and ISP Sports, the exclusive multimedia rightsholder for Green Wave Athletics and producer of the Tulane ISP Radio Network.
In his new role, Freeman will handle all radio play-by-play duties for Tulane football and men's basketball, as well as host the weekly radio call-in shows and television shows featuring Green Wave head football coach Chris Scelfo and head basketball coach Shawn Finney. In addition, Freeman will share radio play-by-play duties for Tulane baseball on the Tulane ISP Network.
Freeman has been the radio voice of the Miami RedHawks for three years, while also serving part of that time as the athletic program's director of marketing and promotions. He previously spent eight years as the play-by-play announcer for Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN.
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to have Jim Freeman join our team at Tulane," Chris Ferris, Director of Radio Production for ISP Sports, says. "He enables us to present a consistent on-air presence for Green Wave athletics, and will endear himself to Tulane followers with his professional, energetic and descriptive style.
"There was considerable interest in this position from some extremely talented individuals across the Southeast and even on the national level, which is a great credit to Tulane and the respect in which its athletic program is held. It also speaks highly of Jim that he was able to separate himself from a very impressive list of applicants."
