Tulane Athletics Announces New Staff Members

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University has announced the addition of four new support staff members to its athletic department for the 2003-04 seasons. Assistant video coordinator Kevin Hooper, assistant athletic trainer Justin Leduc, assistant equipment manager John Mendow and assistant strength and conditioning coach Robert Schwartz have joined the Green Wave staff.
Hooper joins the staff of video coordinator Will Davis after graduating from Memphis this past May. A native of Jacks Creek, Tenn., Hooper will assist in the day-to-day operations of the videography of all sports at Tulane. He served as a student athletic video assistant at Memphis for four years and also worked in the video coordination office of the Memphis Maniax (XFL) and the Memphis Houn' Dogs (ABA 2000). He has also worked as a videographer for Memphis television stations.
Leduc has taken over football athletic training duties for head athletic trainer Wendy Svoboda. A native of Southington, Conn., and a 1995 graduate of Springfield College, Leduc worked for nearly three years at the high school athletic training level as a clinical athletic trainer for HealthSouth in Connecticut. In 2003, he earned his master's degree in biology from the University of Hartford after working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years.
After three years as the head equipment manager at Nicholls State, Mendow joins the Tulane equipment room staff under equipment manager Pete Maglieri. A native of Covington, La., Mendow will serve as Tulane's equipment manager for men's and women's basketball and volleyball, while assisting with all other sports. He earned both his bachelor's (1997) and master's (2000) degrees from LSU. He is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.
Schwartz is the newest addition to Curtis Tsuruda's strength and conditioning staff after spending 18 months as a graduate assistant at the University of Houston where he earned his master's degree in May. A 2000 graduate of Bowling Green and a native of Camden, Ohio, Schwartz will design and implement the annual strength and conditioning programs for baseball, women's basketball and soccer, while assisting Tsuruda with all other sports.
Tulane has also added six interns/graduate assistants to the athletic department staff: Emily Agler (marketing), Aaron Goldberg (marketing), Anna Martin (strength & conditioning), Ray Shoemaker (equipment room), Mike Grodsky (ticket office), Eric Phillips (training room).
