NCAA Ends Recruiting Investigation
Sept. 1, 2000
NEW ORLEANS, La. - - The NCAA has informed Tulane that it has ended its review of the school's recruitment of 2000 football signee Ronald McClendon, Tulane Director of Athletics Rick Dickson announced Friday.
In its letter concluding the review, the NCAA indicated that no further action was required.
"We're pleased with the decision of the NCAA to conclude this matter," Dickson said. "We conducted a thorough internal investigation and cooperated fully with the NCAA to provide the information they needed to evaluate the situation and make this determination. We're happy to put this behind us and continue our objective of operating our athletics program in a manner that reflects the highest ethical standards."
McClendon, an all-state running back from Ponchatoula, La. who signed with Tulane in February, did not meet NCAA minimum entrance requirements and enrolled at a junior college.
