The lone senior on a young volleyball team, outside hitter Britney Hurst has been a stabilizing factor on the court since becoming a full-time starter a year ago. After earning second-team All-Conference USA honors a year ago, Hurst has been the offensive leader for the Green Wave in 2002, pacing the squad with 201 kills and a 4.90 kills-per-game average while ranking second on the squad with 135 digs and a 3.29 digs-per-game average. She earned all-tournament honors in all three tourneys the Green Wave have participated so far this season - the San Diego State/Ramada Invitational, the 2002 NOKIA Sugar Bowl Classic and the SMU/Doubletree Invitational. A standout track & field athlete as well, Hurst finished eighth in the javelin at the 2001 C-USA Championship to help the women's squad win the league's outdoor championship.
