Former Players Honor Mrs. Fitz
Dec. 13, 2001
At the Tulane vs. Louisville football game on November 3, Mrs. Lurlyn Fitzpatrick (known as Mrs. Fitz to anyone that has met her) was honored for her 38 years of service to Tulane Athletics. Mrs. Fitz worked in the Green Wave Football Office up until this past year, when she moved over to assist the Tulane Athletics Fund (TAF).
It was a great weekend for Mrs. Fitz, on Friday night, she was taken to Emeril's, and on Saturday she spent time with many former players at a pre-game reception in the Westfeldt Room at the Superdome.

Bobby Duhon and Jim Jancik, along with many others, were the driving forces behind a tribute to Mrs. Fitz. They sent a letter to all former football players that had played at Tulane during Mrs. Fitz' tenure. The letter asked for money to be donated to the Tulane Athletic Department in Mrs. Fitz's name, through the Tulane Athletics Fund.
The response to the letter was unbelievable. Over 140 former players donated over $52,000 in honor of Mrs. Fitz. Along with the donations, most former players sent letters describing the enormous positive effect that Mrs. Fitz had on their lives. After reading the responses, it became evident that Mrs. Fitz's influence on "her boys", as she calls all of the former players, could not be measured by a monetary value.
