Fogelman Life Preparation Program
The Fogelman Life Preparation Program for the Tulane Men’s Basketball Team
Â
The Fogelman Life Preparation Program for the Tulane Men’s Basketball team is a holistic development program that specifically caters to the intellectual, personal, professional, and leadership development of all Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athletes.
Â
The goal of The Fogelman Life Preparation Program is to increase forward and proactive thinking about life after Tulane University and/or basketball by creating awareness and opportunities for holistic self-growth.
Â
The Fogelman Life Preparation Program is versatile, in that, while the goal is focused on holistic development outside of the game of basketball, many of the lessons will also help them prepare for the non-physical basketball related activities and endeavors that they will face as they are going through the NBA Draft process; given their physical prowess affords them the privilege.
Â
The Fogelman Life Preparation Program will allow for an individual and hands on approach throughout the course of all the Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athletes' academic career.
Â
Each Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete will have one individual appointment per week, as well as one group session with the rest of their teammates per week. In the individual sessions, their specific intellectual and personal development needs will be addressed. In the group sessions, their professional and leadership development will be addressed.
Â
Throughout the course of an entire academic year, Fall, Spring, and Summer, each Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete will have had at least 30 Fogelman Life Preparation sessions. Over the course of four years, each Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete will have had 120-160 Fogelman Life Preparation sessions. As with basketball, and life, practice makes perfect. Each Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete will be afforded multiple opportunities to revisit similar topics in order to gain a mastery of that respective development life skill.
Â
At the conclusion of their time at Tulane, or a professional basketball career, it is the expectation that each Tulane Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete will have the knowledge, tools, and practical experiences to successfully transition and navigate into the real world with a healthy mindset. The Fogelman Life Preparation Program is going to give each member of the Tulane Men’s Basketball team an opportunity to live the lives of a college student-athlete at Tulane University, a first round draft pick professional NBA basketball player, and as an entry level worker within their desired field.
Â
