CONTENT TUTORING
Comprehensive tutoring services are available for all student-athletes and cover a variety of subjects including, but not limited to, Writing, STEM, Core Curriculum, Business Courses. Students work with their Athletic Academic Advisor to determine tutoring needs and to ensure timely accessibility to these resources. Tutoring is offered both in-person and virtually when needed. We may also each out to academic departments to recruit the best and brightest students or if you may have students who are qualified, reach out to our Tutor Coordinator.
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS
Educational Assistants (EAs) work one-on-one with student-athletes to help strengthen time management, organizational, college level writing, and other necessary academic skills. These services are designed to facilitate the growth of each student-athlete into a confident and autonomous learner.
LEARNING SPECIALISTS
In addition to working with student-athletes one-on-one around academic strategies, our Learning Specialists work with students to coordinate psychoeducational testing referrals. They also help students navigate the academic accommodations process through the Goldman Center for Accessibility.
TECHNOLOGY RENTAL
Technology required for class (laptop computers, calculators, etc.) can be rented out by our student- athletes one semester at a time within our academic center.
TRAVEL LETTERS
Student-athletes are not aware of their athletically related travel commitments until the start of their competition season. Travel letters are provided to each student to communicate their athletic-related competition schedule with faculty with respect to class attendance and assignments.
How We Support Faculty:
EXAM PROCTORING
We provide exam proctoring services on campus and at host institutions during away competitions, for exams that are missed due to documented travel, illness, or injury.
PROGRESS REPORTS & ACADEMIC ALERTS
Our office periodically requests feedback on student-athlete progress in their course(s). We use this information to reinforce the expectations of the instructor and curate individualized academic support interventions. In addition, faculty may submit academic alerts via Gibson that address specific student concerns that require immediate attention and collaborative support.
GUEST FACULTY PROGRAM
The Guest Faculty & Staff Program was developed to provide Tulane University employees with an up close and personal look of the Tulane University football program. This game day experience gives members of the Tulane faculty and staff, along with one guest each, an opportunity to witness the entire Green Wave football process from pre-game preparation to the final play of the game. Faculty & staff members will also have the opportunity to learn about the daily operations of the Don & Lora Peters Academic Center and have the chance to meet, communicate with, and ask questions of the Academic Services staff. These interactions offer insight into the physical & mental demands placed on our athletes here at Tulane. The program also promotes awareness of how the Academic Services staff monitors, advises, counsels, and provides the necessary resources for our student-athletes to be successful not only on the playing field, but in the classroom as well.
Program Outline
The Guest Faculty & Staff game day experience begins with a tour of the athletic facilities. Guests will then be escorted to the Green Wave Grille where food and beverages will be served and where guests will have an opportunity to meet and interact with position coaches and prospective Tulane student-athletes. Guests will then make their way to the playing field to watch the Green Wave's pre-game warm-up. Prior to kick-off, guests will be shown to their seats to enjoy the game and cheer on the Tulane Green Wave. Our goal for this program is to continue to build and foster a great working relationship between ASC and Tulane faculty/staff, while sharing a fun and unique experience.
Interested Tulane faculty/staff members interested in participating in the program, should contact Brenda Codallo at bcodallo@tulane.edu.
