2022-23 Track Season: Competed in seven meets between indoor and outdoor season…Earned All-Conference honors in the 5000m (14:07.28) at the AAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships….Placed ninth in the 3000m at the Scarlet and White Invite (8:14.21)…Had a season-best and placed eighth in the 3000m at the Music City Challenge (8:07.24)…Took ninth in the 10,000m (31:47.50) at the AAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships…Competed in the 5,000m (14:07.92) and the 10,000m (30:21.72) at the NCAA East Preliminary.
2022 Cross Country: Was the top runner for Tulane competing in six meets… Placed 2nd in the UNO XC Opener with a career best time in the 5k of 14:49.0 (Sept. 2)… Won the Arturo Barrios Invitational with an 8k time of 23:25.5 (Oct. 15)… Finished fourth in the AAC Championships with a time of 24:03.4 in the 8k (Oct. 28)… Placed ninth in the NCAA Division I South Central Region Cross Country Championships with a time of 30:43.6 (Nov.11)… Competed in the NCAA Cross Country Championships (Nov. 19th).
Prior to Tulane: Began his career at Southeastern Louisiana and was a 2021 national championship qualifier in winning the Southland Conference Championship 8k race....He won three other races as well including the Watson Intercollegiate, LSU Invitational and Nicholls Invitational....He also finished 11th in the NCAA South Central Regional race earning a spot in the 2021 NCAA Division I National Championship 10k race Nov. 20th in Tallahassee, Florida. Makuvire also accumulated a bevy of awards for the season which included: Southland Male Cross Country Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week (Oct. 11th), two-time Southland Male Athlete of the Week (Oct. 5th, Sept. 21st) and USTFCCCA All-South Region.
