Johnathan McLamore is in his second year as a member of the Tulane athletic staff serving as the Director of Sport Operations.
McLamore currently works with the men’s basketball, women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s track & field and men’s and women’s cross country teams. During the spring of 2022, McLamore was serving as the Director of Operation for at one point 12 of the 17 team sports at Tulane.
In his role, he is in charge of keeping all his teams organized. He works helping set up all team travel, handles all recruiting efforts for his teams and oversees the day-to-day operations of the programs while working directly with the student-athletes to assist in their development off the field, aids student-athletes with housing and financial aid opportunities while taken on any additional role assigned by the coaching staff or a member of the administrative team.
Prior to arrive at Tulane, McLamore worked as the Director of Operations for PR Sports from August 2019-June 2020. In the role, he oversaw all day-to-day logistics of five leagues and 600+ athletes. He utilized a wide variety of software programs in the forecasting, planning, promoting and scheduling of over700 league events and skill camps. He also represented PR Sports as a liaison to all the outside vendors and various stakeholders. He managed $70,000 in equipment and marketing collateral for distribution to venues across the Greater San Antonio areas. McLamore also recruited, trained, and supervised as staff of ten game day employees and interns.
Before his time at PR Sports, McLamore worked as the Operations Coordinator for the San Antonio Commanders from January 2019 – April 2019. His duties included coordinating all travel and facility operation requirements in preparation for all Commander practice and game activities. He also created the Commanders’ visiting team guide for all opponents for the 2019 AAF season. McLamore also assisted the Commanders’ equipment team in the acquisition and distribution of equipment for the 70-man roster. He also supported the team’s position coaches with daily set-up, execution, and breakdown or team practices and drills.
From January 2018-May 2018, McLamore worked as the Operations Intern for the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee in the hosting of the 2018 NCAA Men’s Final Four. In the role, he led the management of non-stadium materials, equipment, décor, apparel, and all the other supplies related to 2018 NCAA Final Men’s Four in an 8,000 square foot warehouse facility. McLamore also prepared correspondence, written presentations, documentations, and other communication related to the Final Four activities as the host city. He also developed future Final Four work progress instructions to improve procedures and provide a smoother experience for all future event attendees. In his time with the organization, he distributed over 36,000 volunteer uniforms and directed volunteers to assigned areas to facilitate training.
From August 2017 – November 2017, McLamore volunteered as the operations chair for the NCAA Men’s Final Four Kickoff through the University of Texas at San Antonio. From May 2017 – July 2017 he volunteered as the operations assistant for Men’s Basketball at the University of Texas at San Antonio
From July 2000 – February 2014, McLamore worked for the United States Marine Corps as the District Athletic Director / Operations and Logistics Manager. In the role, he served as the District Athletic Director for 12 intramural sports ensuring competitive representation and adequate accommodations for all athletes. McLamore was accountable for the planning, coordination, and management of personnel with varying operational requirements; analyzing information and situations, implemented actions, and ensured the accomplishment of objectives. He developed budgets, policies, and procedures in the execution of functional strategies and support operations. He also managed travel arrangements and contracts for the Marines and Sailors, including air and ground transportation, lodging and meals.
McLamore’s education involves being Coaches ‘C’ Certified by USA Baseball in October 2020 and earning his Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Sports Management from the University of Texas at San Antonio in August 2018.
