NEW ORLEANS, La. - After 8 years, Tulane coach Sue Bower is a bridesmaid no more. The Green Wave women golf team took control of its home tournament and led Bower to her, and the school's, first ever title.
Junior Pam Buff led the team with a three-round total 226, but the entire team faired well, as all five members posted top 20 scores.
Senior Catalina Lara and freshman Kathy Schafer posted three-day totals of 234 to tie for 17th place, while Senior Meghan Bolger and Sophomore Marcela Gonzalez finished tied for 20th, with scores of 236.
The Tulane team beat one of its toughest rivals today, Campbell, by three strokes. Tulane has finished second to Campbell three times in the last two years.
The individual champion was Vanderbilt's Meredith Ward, shooting 1-under (218) for the 54-hole event.
