GREENVILLE, S.C. - Lindsay Hulwick and Marcela Gonzalez each shot a 17-over par 233 to lead the Tulane University women's golf team to a 12th-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Furman University Golf Course.
The Green Wave started the three-round tournament tied for seventh with a 309, but things went sour for Tulane on Saturday as four players tallied scores of 80 or higher for a 323. But Tulane bounced back on the final day of competition with a team-best 301 to finish second among Conference USA clubs competing in the 21-team tournament.
Hulwick was the team's most consistent performer during the Lady Paladin Invitational, scoring a 79 on day one and a pair of 77s on the final two rounds to tie Gonzalez and eighth other players for 35th overall. Gonzalez, meanwhile, shot a 77 on the opening day of qualification, an 82 during day two and a 74 during the final round.
Other scorers for the Green Wave were Alexis Wooster, Carolin Landmann and Kathy Schafer. Wooster turned in the best round for Tulane with a 72 on Sunday to go along with a 75 on Friday. But an 89 on Saturday cost Wooster, who finished the tournament tied for 50th with a 20-over par 236.
