NEW ORLEANS - Tulane junior offensive lineman Seth Zaunbrecher has been named to the second team unit of the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District VI Football team, selected by members of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America.
An accounting and finance major in Tulane's A.B. Freeman School of Business, Zaunbrecher carries an impressive 3.489 grade point average. The Crowley, La. product has started nine games at left guard for Tulane's Top 20-rated offense after overcoming a preseason knee injury. In his first season as a starter, Zaunbrecher has helped the Tulane offense average 434.1 yards per game while opening holes for running back Mewelde Moore en route to his record-breaking rushing season.
Zaunbrecher's achievement marks the second straight season the Green Wave has had selections to the Academic All-District squad. Last year, tight end Mike Truax and quarterback Patrick Ramsey earned second team honors.
The District VI squad is composed of student-athletes from schools in Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico and Louisiana. Members of the first team unit are eligible for selection to the organization's Academic All-America squad.
