A new scoreboard has been added to Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park in preparation for Saturday's game. |
On Thursday, City Park and Tad Gormley Stadium continued to come together for Saturday's events. Crews finished work in the press boxes, which received new carpeting and a fresh coat of paint; painters stenciled the Tulane logo and name on the field; workers continued wiring the brand-new end zone scoreboard; tents and staging were erected in the Homecoming Village; and the media turned out to catch sneak peaks at Saturday's final set-up.
Junior Mewelde Moore needs just 56 yards to become Tulane's all-time leading rusher. |
On Saturday, the festivities will open with fiddler wunderkind Amanda Shaw playing on the stage in Homecoming Village at 10:30 a.m. and activities will continue through the afternoon. The Green Wave football team arrives at the stadium at approximately 12:25 p.m., and they will enter the stadium via Gate D, where fans will be congregated to greet the Wave. Following the team arrival, the Green Wave Mambo Parade will kick off, marching down Roosevelt Mall. The Bucktown All-Stars play at 1 p.m. for just over an hour and prior to the 2:30 kickoff will be a military flyover of the stadium.
The game is historic as it will be the first outdoor home game for Tulane since 1974, when it last played in Tulane Stadium. Since that time, all home games have been played in the Louisiana Superdome. The two biggest on-field things to watch are the scoreboard and junior running back Mewelde Moore. With a victory, Tulane will pick up its sixth victory, making it eligible for a post-season bowl game, while Moore needs just 56 yards to become the Green Wave's all-time rushing leader.
